FYNEFLUTE SURROUND CARE GUIDE

Avoid abrasive cleaning products, strong solvents, silicone sprays or household chemicals that are not intended for rubber components, as these may damage the material. We recommend regular light dusting using a dry microfibre cloth.

A white or powdery film on the rubber surround is commonly known as “blooming”.

This is a cosmetic condition where compounds within the rubber migrate to the surface over time. It does not affect loudspeaker performance or the structural integrity of the drive unit. This is only known to happen if your product has been stored in humid conditions and seldom occurs in a domestic setting.

Follow the steps below:

  1. Gently wipe the surround using a clean, dry microfibre cloth to remove loose dust and debris.
  2. Use a cloth lightly dampened with Cleaning Benzine to remove the white residue.
  3. Apply a suitable rubber treatment such as Sonax Rubber Protectant to rejuvenate and protect the rubber.

Always work carefully to avoid contact with the cone and surrounding cabinet surfaces.

In most cases, no.

Blooming is generally cosmetic and does not affect the performance or durability of the surround, provided the rubber remains flexible and shows no signs of cracking or separation.

Regular light cleaning using a dry microfibre cloth can help minimise visible build-up.

As with all rubber materials, some degree of blooming may naturally reappear over time.

This condition is different from cosmetic blooming and may indicate age-related deterioration or damage.

If the surround is cracking, hardening, tearing or separating from the cone, contact your dealer or Fyne Audio support team for further advice, as professional repair or replacement may be required.
